Patios in Basingstoke
Landscape gardeners for patios, lawns, fencing & full garden makeovers. Free surveys, fixed written quotes, tidy workmanship.
Basingstoke Landscaping designs and lays patios across Basingstoke and north Hampshire — Indian sandstone, porcelain, limestone and block paving. A patio is the most used hard surface in a garden and the one people regret cheaping out on: what decides whether it looks this good in fifteen years is the part you never see, the sub-base.
Every patio we lay sits on a properly excavated, compacted MOT Type 1 base with full mortar beds under every slab — never dot-and-dab — with falls set so water runs away from the house, not into it.

Patio materials we work with
Indian sandstone
The classic — riven texture, warm tones, honest price. Still the most popular patio stone in Hampshire.
Porcelain paving
The modern premium: stain-proof, colour-fast, non-slip finishes — and it needs virtually no maintenance.
Limestone & slate
Darker, crisper looks for contemporary gardens — striking with light rendering and modern glazing.
Block paving
Brindle and charcoal blocks for patios that flow into paths and driveways.

What a patio done properly involves
Excavation to 150–200mm, a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base, full wet mortar beds, joints pointed with brush-in compound or mortar to suit the stone, and falls of about 1:80 away from the building. Porcelain adds a priming slurry on each slab so the mortar actually bonds. Cutting is done with proper wet saws for clean edges around curves, manholes and steps — recessed manhole covers make inspection points disappear into the paving.
It's a two-to-five day job for most gardens, and the difference between this and a rushed job is invisible on day one and unmissable by year three.
Garden makeovers
Patios as part of a full redesign — the most cost-effective way to get one.
Garden walls & steps
Retaining walls, steps and raised features built alongside.
