Turfing & New Lawns in Basingstoke
Landscape gardeners for patios, lawns, fencing & full garden makeovers. Free surveys, fixed written quotes, tidy workmanship.
Basingstoke Landscaping lays new lawns across Basingstoke and the surrounding villages — replacing tired, patchy or moss-choked grass with fresh cultivated turf on ground that's actually been prepared to receive it.
Turf itself is the cheap part; the lawn you have in five years is decided by what happens underneath. Our turfing starts with stripping the old surface, cultivating and levelling, and a screeded topsoil bed — because turf laid on builder's rubble grows like turf laid on builder's rubble.

Lawn work we do
New lawns & re-turfing
Old surface off, ground cultivated, levelled topsoil bed, fresh cultivated turf — a usable lawn in weeks.
Lawn levelling
Humps, hollows and the trench where the trampoline lived — regraded before the new lawn goes down.
Seeding
The budget route for larger areas — slower to establish, considerably cheaper per square metre.
Artificial grass
Where real grass genuinely won't work — deep shade, dogs, or zero-maintenance briefs.

Timing and aftercare — the honest version
Turf can be laid most of the year, but spring and autumn are ideal: warm soil, natural rainfall, fast rooting. Summer lawns work but demand serious watering commitment in the first month — we'll say so plainly rather than leave you to find out. New lawns want two to three weeks off-limits while roots take, daily watering in dry spells, and a first light cut at about three weeks.
Basingstoke's clay-heavy soils hold water in winter and crack in summer — where drainage is genuinely poor we'll recommend addressing it during preparation rather than laying good turf over a bad situation.
